Camping and mobile home holidays in the Vendee region of western France; a land of sunshine,
fabulous sandy beaches, great food and watersports, and together with great food these make the Vendee
a wonderful place for a camping holiday. Vendee is a department in the Pays de la Loire region.

Camping resorts in the Vendee region really start with the Ile de Noirmoutier in the north of the department and follow the coastline all the way down to la Tranche and just beyond in the south.

There are masses of walking and cycling routes here as a great deal of the coastline is beach, dunes or forest land with towns and villages dotted in between, and we can say from experience that camping in the Vendee takes some beating!

You may notice that a great many of the beaches near to the camping holiday resorts are in pristine condition and comprise of that golden sand which we all associate with a good beach.

We think it’s fair to say that surfing in France starts in the Vendée, and there are some good surfing beaches near Longeville and la Tranche, indeed, when we (Editor’s family) have taken camping holidays in that part of the Vende we noticed that people come from all over France and the Netherlands for a weekend of good surfing fun.

Most campsites will be able to give you a tide chart, and if you don’t have a board there are always plenty of hire shops in the towns and on the beaches during the high season.

That leads us nicely onto another topic: Can you surf? If not there are always place where you can have lessons but we suggest that you buy a cheap bellyboard and just use it for body surfing – it’s nearly as much fun and you don’t need lessons.
